Well, after the hemorrhaging of my first gentoo install, Myth itself seemed
like a breeze, but I digress...

I guess what's really needed is something like an ncurses-based postexec
script a la .debs, which will do some of the most basic configuration, like
setting up a DB user and populating the database, and all that sort of
stuff that doesn't differ much regionally (unless it already has this...? I
used an ebuild). I think the only real problems newbies face is getting the
TV card working and then correctly configuring XMLTV, which can all seem a
bit too much like black magic to someone unfamiliar with dealing with code,
and I guess the only solution to this is more documentation - I know
setting up my card in the UK proved a nightmare due to the lack of
UK-centric docs I could(n't) find, which I'm working on at the moment. It's
taking alot longer than anticipated, since I keep getting drawn into new
configurational thingies that no-one seems to have documented much. Since I
can't code, I might as well try and do something useful.
