[mythtv-users] (alsa) very small, but very annoying issue...plz help

Well, I wanted to use the digital out on my sblive card. I
fired up alsa for the first time...i know the one can use
the digital out with oss drivers, but I wanted to go ahead
and start using alsa, since the world seems to be moving in
that direction....anyhow.

Everything works well, as far as I can tell, EXCEPT, I can't
control audio anymore with myth's internal audio control.
In alsamixer, only the "wave" function has any effect on the
volume output. Both master and pcm seem to have zero
effect. I read the list and found some references to using
ALSA:default in the mysql db instead of /dev/dsp. I tried
that but no dice. I also found some reference to using
ALSA:hw,0,0 or somesuch, but have not tried this yet. I did
alter settings.pro to enable native alsa...so perhaps I
should undo this.

Certainly, some other users have come across this?

Like I said, all is well, except I can't use myth to change
the volume any longer (gotta find my receiver remote
everytime...which my 2 yr old regulary holds hostage).

I'd be happy to setup some sort of lirc workaround and not
use myth's internal audio controls, but I wouldn't really
know how to proceed (wouldn't know which app to pass lirc
keypresses to).

Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Joel
