The nVidia docs list:

Option "RenderAccel" "boolean"
	Listed as experimental and disabled by default

Option "NoRenderExtension" "boolean"
	Set to false by default where possible

Did you mean you set NoRenderExtention to true?  Or is there an 
undocumented option?
