Yes. They are designed as seperate pieces that can either live on one
box or be spread on multiple.

The Frontend since it is the one actually playing the game or video.
> .) has anybody tried such a terminal with myth?
I've got a machine here that uses ether boot to boot up off my
network and nfs mount it's filesystem. Works fine running mythfrontend.
> .) which one uses the CPU-Power, the backend or the frontend?
The backend would use CPU to record your show (very little CPU if you go
with an Mpeg encoding tuner like the Hauppage 250/350 types) and the Frontend
would use CPU to decode and display the video.

All video and sound playing happens on the frontend. The backend only
records the video and streams it out to the Frontend.

There is some sort of LCD support in Myth but honestly I haven't looked

Well, you can certainly setup some sort of autologin/auto launch of
mythfrontend but since mythfrontend runs on the frontend to display the
video it really would have nothing to fo with the IP or MAC of the machine.
