I'm about to buy a pair of tuner cards. I've been following along here
(and perusing the archives) for a while now, but the issue of which
cards are Myth/Linux compatible still confuses me. According to the
IVTV site, the cards I'm considering fall into the categories of "should
work" and "unknown." However, I have seen discussions here that suggest
that some folks are getting them to work. To complicate things even
more, I understand that there are issues with certain revisions of these
cards.
Long story short, I'd love to see a couple of paragraphs on the MythTV
site (or anywhere, for that matter) that discusses some of these other
cards and helps the newcomer identify whether a prospective purchase is
likely to be compatible. For the moment, though, I'd be happy just
knowing whether either of the following cards are good bets or not.
PVR-250MCE FM
ATI E-HOME WONDER FM.
I can't find many of the original 250's... and I'd rather avoid the
350's hefty pricetag. I guess the 250 MCE is my best bet, but I'm aware
that there are some 250's that are of an incompatible revision. Is this
the one to avoid or is it known to work? The low-profile ATI card
certainly has an attractive pricetag ($75 delivered) and is allegedly a
member of the 250 family... but other than IVTV's suggestion that it
might work, I've no reason to believe it's supported.
Oh... Another thing. What about FM support? I haven't seen a
MythRadio plugin in KnoppMyth. I assume there isn't one... and maybe
never will be (?).
Thanks in advance for your responses.
