Pressing only "R" during LiveTV was added after 0.13 but before
0.14 and should always show 'Record "Show Title"' on screen. If
you are using 0.13 or earlier (or current versions of course) you
can also press "M" (EPG) then "R" or "O" (Browse mode) then "R".

To stop a recording in progress, go to Watch Recordings and press
"I" which shows a popup of options. "Delete" will stop recording
and delete the file. "Stop Recording" will discontinue recording,
keep the partial file and update the endtime.

Pressing "R" in any of these modes actually cycles through the
different record types so the first press changes from NotRecording
to Single. Pressing "R" again as a convenient way to stop
recording has been mentioned before but that would make it to
easy to inadvertently stop something so that probably isn't a
good idea =).
