The advanced design (http://www.lirc.org/improved_transmitter.html) on
the lirc site has multiple leds (I have 2 IR and a green)
That should be plenty ;)

PS - advice seconded. It's bloody frustrating sometimes and I damn near
bought an oscilliscope to get my cheapo circuit working!!!
