The correct answer is neither. For DataDirect and MythTV 0.15
you don't use any XMLTV grabber (tv_grab*). In the "setup"
section for Video Sources, choose "North America (DataDirect)"
then mythfilldatabase will grab all the data for you with all
the extra fields that XMLTV would filter out.

But there were really two independent questions in your earlier
post (makes it a little harder to keep questions and answers
stright ;-).

Should you use XMLTVs *_dd grabber? No. Configure your Video
Source to use the internal grabber.

Should you run mythfilldatabase from cron? You can but there
is a new feature where the master backend can be configured
to run mythfilldatabase for you. If you use this feature
instead then you don't want to run mythfilldatabase from cron.
