[mythtv-users] MythDVD woes WAF failing....

Should be simple to fix, but I have not found much in the archives.
Running:
2.4 Celeron, Myth .16 FC2 ( install via Jerrod's guide ) KDE.

Just installed a DVD ROM as I want to be able to play/rip DVD's.

So, device is appearing as /dev/cdrom (changed mythsetup to point to 
/dev/cdrom instead of /dev/dvd) in OS.

Problems now. ( solutiions welcomed as well pls )
1) when I pop in a DVD, it is automounted and a disk browing window 
pops up from KDE
     - should I disable automount?  What is the best way to do this?

2) I see that mplayer is being used by default to play dvd's.  Does it 
work best?  In the error log, it complains of codecs too.  Is there a 
place to get these for mplayer?  atrpms? apt-get?

3) When I try to play a dvd in optical disk area, it briefly flashes 
black screen and returns to the myth menu.   Here are the log entries
