Could be a few things but could be a permissions problem.
Try running glxgears or glxinfo as a 'normal' user and as root. You might
find it may work as Root and not as normal user.
I have exactly the same problem with my setup which I have temporarily
solved by SUDO'ing Mythfrontend.
Also when you compiled mythmusic did ./configure --enable-opengl (or
--enable-all). I think this is needed to compile in support for opengl in
the music module

Subject: [mythtv-users] OpenGL makes mythfrontend crash !!
I've noticed that if I set "OpenGL transitions"
in mythgallery, as well as "glgears" as a myththmusic visualization,
mythfrontend immediately crashes.
Note that OpenGL works fine with my Nvidia MX 440, I can play chromium with
full graphcs details at 50 fps.
Also, I'm constantly upgrading myth with apt-get since version 0.14 but the
above problem was always present.
What's the trick to tell myth to use OpenGL?
Thanks,
Franco
