A final note:

I appended '-lqt-mt' to LIBS in every Makefile, then did a make which
did work. So, this suggests that something is amiss either in the makefiles
setup or in the qt setup. I mean, how is libqt-mt supposed to be included
if neither is it mentioned in any *.pro? You can tell that I do not know
how qmake works...
