FWIW, boot time on a TiVo is about two minutes, although they do a
good job of presenting a non-scary screen during boot.  I suppose with
recent developments in the bootsplash world, Myth (or actually Linux)
can be made to do something similar.

While sort of on the subject, the "Power" button on a TiVo remote
makes the TV Out shut off (audio mutes too), but the machine itself is
always really on unless you actually unplug it or jump through about 5
menus and hit Thumbs Down three times to really shut it down.  I think
it's a pretty good way of trying to convince the user to just leave it
on.  :-)

With that, I'm curious to know why you want to shut down your Myth box
regularly.  I'm not trying to be condescending; I'm sure you have
valid reasons, and I just don't know what they are.
