[mythtv-users] Bad advice from Mythfrontend -- running with SUID

Not because its a security hole.  Because it hangs my
system every time I try to get it working!  It's so
vexing!!  Is this a general problem, or only a
KnoppMyth thing?

I use the command: 

chmod u+s /usr/bin/mythfrontend

Reboot the system (or just restart gdm, it makes no
difference), try to play an already recorded show and
instant Linux freeze.  No log messages, no
ctl-alt-backspace, no ssh -- nothing but the big
button will bring it back.

Why does mythfrontend keep taunting me with promises
of smoother playback when all it does is freeze the
system??

In desperation, I even tried using visudo to add
/usr/bin/mythfrontend to sudo's mythtv list and it had
no effect at all.  At least it didn't freeze, but it
doesn't run with SUID privilege either.
