Also, you can use the file command to give you hints. For example, when
running file (v4.10) on one of my PVR-x50 recordings (MPEG-2), I get
[mdean at miranda mythtv]$ file 1035_20040906183000_20040906190000.nuv
1035_20040906183000_20040906190000.nuv: MPEG system stream data
When running it on a transcoded (MPEG-4) recording, I get:
[mdean at miranda mythtv]$ file 1035_20040723193000_20040723200000.nuv
1035_20040723193000_20040723200000.nuv: data
(It may be possible to update file's database to recognize MPEG-4
recordings, but I don't know how, and even without, I can tell the
difference between my MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. :)
