[mythtv-users] help w/ 350-out - color bar pattern

Hi,

I'm attempting to get an FC2 install up and running using Jarod's guide (this Fedora Myth(TV)ology HOWTO). I'm trying to verify that my 350's composite output can display the color bar pattern as a sanity check. I tried the example in the guide but it is broke under FC2 (last line below gives error) ... after contacting Jarod he recommended I change that last insmod to modprobe and try that ... this changes the TV output to a different shade of black but no color bars. He also recommended using insmod but directly referencing the saa7127.ko file which I found using the linux locate command - this gives the alternate shade of black as well. I am totally new at this as you can tell.

I have a dual boot setup so I can go into WindowsXP and I can use the Hauppage TV application and I see TV just fine so I don't think there is any problem with the card. I remember I did get color bars when I tried the old FC1 guide but the kernel that guide referenced was too old for this prism54 SMC PCI card I bought. I gave up the last go around and tried out SageTV under Windows but it crashes too much ... I am hoping to get something as stable as my TIVO eventually - is there hope for those of you that have been at this for awhile?

I saw that KnoppMyth option (another new user path) but I would really like to be able to easily dual boot Windows (so I can do HW sanity checks since it is so painful to get HW working under Linux for newbies) so would like to stick w/ Fedora.

Any help appreciated ... sorry in advance if this question is redundant.
