Not only does it replace the barton but it is the thouroughbred core. 
The sempron 3100+ is the athlon 64 core.  Just rebranded and cheaper.  I 
am sure any sempron is powerful enough to run one bttv receiver.  If you 
start doing more you may need to get a faster processor.
