[mythtv-users] mythtranscode not starting automatically

I'm having a problem with mythtranscode in that it is not starting 
automatically when I begin a transcode. I can see the entry in the 
'transcoding' table in the database, for example:

However, nothing happens. If I run mythtranscode manually:

# mythtranscode -c 8 -s "2004-09-14 22:45:00"
2004-09-21 09:06:45 Transcoding 
from /myth/video/8_20040914224500_20040914233500.nuv 
to /myth/video/8_20040914224500_20040914233500.nuv.tmp

It will start the transcode. How can I get mythbackend to launch mythtranscode 
automatically?
