I'm experiencing the same after switching from lirc_gpio to lirc_serial
with a home built IR receiver (BTW I'm running 0.15.x of Myth) on my
Pundit frontend machine.
I wanted to use the Hauppauge remote since it has the best 'default'
support and the old bttv card didn't recognize the Hauppauge remote
signals.

There is no shaking with lirc_gpio, just with lirc_serial.

The normal X-screen (outside Myth) does not have this problem, just the
MythTV menues.
Weirdest thing is: the (simultaneous) TV-output doesn't suffer from the
shaking either.

I have been googling for this but found nothing conclusive, only
something about a screensaver being reset or such.
