[mythtv-users] DVB - Recording from 'part time' channels

A quick warning for anyone using DVB cards to record from part-time
channels....

If the box attempts to start a recording whilst the channel is off-air the
recording of that programme (and any which follow on the same channel) will
fail. This is a particular risk for anyone who is using the facility to have
recordings start early.

On attempting to tune, the backend simply reports that the channel is
off-air, followed by numerous errors that no data has been returned from the
card in 1 second. Even if the channel comes on air a minute later, the
backend does not attempt to tune a second time.

Also, any following recording on the same channel (using the same card) will
fail because the backend only attempts to retune when switching channels.
Attempting to view live TV on the card also fails unless you first record
something on a different channel, or restart the backend.

Are there any plans to fix this?

For those of you in UK this particularly applies to BBC3 and BBC4 and
presumably most of the Topup TV channels for anyone with a suitable DVB-T
card and a CAM.
