Idem for Matrox cards… Under Winblows, I've yet to see a clearer
picture. Under Linux, forget support (In fact, forget support for home
users from Matrox under any OSes.) The best I could achieve using
Shaun Jackman's matrox-tvout
(http://freshmeat.net/projects/matrox-tvout/) did not permit any kind
of video acceleration. Tho, I believe he stop developing it. :(

Anyhow, I do hope to raise enough money some day to get a monstrous
TFT TV with digital inputs to be able to use that G550 gathering dust.
<sigh>

The bottom line, judging from this list's archives: for normal
(non-hdtv) viewing, get a fanless 440MX, MX4000 or FX5200 from Nvdia
(YMMV depeding on board maker.) And, from what I could read, the NV17
seems to have a nicer output compared to the NV18. But that's not
first hand experience.
