From ivtv_driver.h:
#define IVTV_MAX_CARDS 8
Used to be 9 (there was at least one person who was at least semi-active
in development and needed support for 9 for a special-purpose system),
but was recently (within the last year or 18 months) reduced to 8 to
make coding easier.
