[mythtv-users] transcoded nuv/mpeg4: really mpeg4?

I transcode all of my ivtv recording to the NUV/MPEG4 format simply to
save space. I'm not really quite sure what that format is though.

Is it an MPEG4 compliant stream in a "NUV" container? If so, shouldn't
it be possible to convert (i.e. "re-contain") those to a more widely
accepted container for playing with other players like mplayer and xine
and so forth?
