[mythtv-users] mysql protocol errors on FC4

I have fedora core 4 and I installed mythtv from the atrpms packages
(mythtv-0.18.1-113.rhfc4.atrpms, etc). After running mythtvsetup, I ran
mythfilldatabase, and got a lot of errors reading like:

2005-08-28 10:05:08.585 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:3306
(try 1 of 5)
2005-08-28 10:05:08.588 Protocol error: 'N' is not a valid size prefix.
74 bytes pending.
2005-08-28 10:05:08.588 Unexpected response to MYTH_PROTO_VERSION:

and mythfilldatabase would fail. I was using mysql-4.1. I downgraded to
FC3's mysql (mysql-3.23.58-16.FC3). Then mythfilldatabase worked and I
didn't notice any errors. Now parts of mythtv is working, but when I try
to "watch tv" I get:

2005-08-28 10:05:08.585 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:3306
(try 1 of 5)
2005-08-28 10:05:08.588 Protocol error: 'N' is not a valid size prefix.
74 bytes pending.
2005-08-28 10:05:08.588 Unexpected response to MYTH_PROTO_VERSION:
2005-08-28 10:05:08.589 Changing from None to None

Is this a mythtv error or a mysql error? The MYTH_PROTO_VERSION is an
error when versions on the myth backend and frontend don't match;
however, in my case they do and I think the problem is the protocol
error I'm getting a line earlier. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Thanks for you help,

Ben
