Yeah. I'm converting an existing machine for MythTv and I started by  
booting up Knoppix and making sure everything worked.

Yep. If it's got a rebate I won't buy it. (The only exception being  
TurboTax.)

That I believe. But I've been known to throw money at a problem to make it  
go away--and not being able to make it go away.<s>

The Hauppauge looks good and seems to be the card name I hear the most  
frequently. So...that'll do.
