I just got my first MythTV box up and running. Hardware:

    * Chaintech 7NIF2 Motherboard
    * Athlon XP 2500 CPU
    * 512 MB RAM
    * Hauppage WinTV-PVR-150
    * Seagate 7200 RPM 80 GB PATA hard drive (using DMA)

I am running Gentoo Linux, with the following package
versions/features:

    * media-tv/mythtv-0.18.1-r1  +alsa (-altivec) +arts
        -debug -dvb -frontendonly +jack -joystick -lcd -lirc +mmx
        +nvidia +opengl +oss -unichrome +vorbis
    * media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.8174-r1
    * media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.8174-r1 -dlloader
    * media-tv/ivtv-0.4.0-r2

I am currently facing two problems: (1) under mythtv (only), the
audio is choppy, and (2) the video is fuzzy.

As for (1), if I run "mplayer -fs /dev/video0", the audio and video
are perfectly in sync, with no stuttering or choppiness. However,
both live tv AND recorded tv have audio (and video, although to a
lesser extent) that is choppy: several brief pauses every second or
two. Definately too annoying to ignore.

As for (2), regardless of how I watch TV, the picture is "fuzzy".
That is, it looks like the reception is poor. I'm sure the co-ax
cable and cable service are good, as I can plug the cable directly
into my TV, and everything looks nice and crisp.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Matt
