apt does not know what kernel you are running or have even installed,
so upon upograding, if a package is required it picks the first one
available. So when alsa is upgraded/installed it need a kernel module
for alsa and doe not minimize the number of packages to install by
looking at already installed kernels, but picks the first in its
index.

At least that's what I've seen and think applies here as well. You can
test the theory by installing kernel modules with

apt-get install foo-kmdl-`uname -r`
[apt-get install foo] optional, if foo has userland parts.

If it still shows up there must be something wrong :/
