I have a separate disk for content. I called it... uh.... content 
(original, huh?)
It's accessible from  /.

I placed mythtv recordings at:

/content/video/mythtv

I placed transcoded files at:

/content/video/transcode

Audio at:

/content/audio

... I'm sure you get the picture.
