looks intriguing.

The benefit of using esd in this case is that pretty much all clients
support it "out of the box". hmm -- I wonder if a esd-to-mfe mode
would be possible?  ie. use mfd on the mythbox, have mfe present
an esd-compatible proxy for clients on the other end, and send an
audio stream via mfe?
