[mythtv-users] Determining State of Set Top Box

On my PVR-350 I can use the command
ivtvctl -I and I get either
Input signal timebase (D4): Stable (broadcast/DVD)
or
Input signal timebase (D4): Bad
If your not using a PVR then I don't know (and according to someone
previously on the list, it's partly to do with my receiver), but at
least you know it's possible.
