the specs don't give any details as to what tuner it has.

Linux would probably run on it fine, but you probably wouldn't get
full use of all the features they tout since i'm guessing the Asus
Home Theatre software that's included interfaces with 'stuff' on their
proprietary motherboard...

it might be fun to play with it you have the time and $$$ :)
