For the past couple of weeks I have been having great success running a
mythtv system with a single PVR-350 card.

Today I tried to add a second capture card, a PVR-250MCE, and have run
into some problems.

System specs:

Asus P5GD2 deluxe motherboard
3.6Ghz CPU
FX 5500 PCI video card
Hauppauge PVR-350
Hauppauge PVR-250MCE
Fedora Core 3
ATRPMS mythtv-suite 0.17
Jarod's guide to put it all together
Using the PVR-350 output and the PVR-350 remote control

What I did:

Added the second card to the system.

If I am looking at things correctly it appears that I am able to see the
card using lspci -v

01:0a.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16
(CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device 4801
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 193
        Memory at d8000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2

01:0b.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15
MPEG-2 Encoder (rev
01)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc. WinTV PVR-350
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 177
        Memory at dc000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2

Added the following line to my /etc/modprob.conf file:

alias char-major-81-1 ivtv

Ran mythtvsetup and added the second capture card. Initial pass at this
did not work as expected. It did not seem to want to use /dev/video1
for some reason. After going back through things a couple of times I
cleared all capture cards and added them both in. This time I was able
to specify /dev/video0 and /dev/video1 for the two cards. I set the
inputs to tuner0 for both cards. I assume this means the tuner on each
capture card will be used. I did not see anywhere that separate tuner
devices where defined.

When I startup mythtv now the system seems to know that there are two
tuner cards based on output from the system status page. And if I
select two shows to record it allows it. However it appears that one
show records while the other gets nothing.

In the /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log file I see the following when I
am trying to record two shows:

read: Device or resource busy
error reading from: /dev/video0
read: Device or resource busy
error reading from: /dev/video0
read: Device or resource busy
error reading from: /dev/video0

In addition I no longer have any sound recording with the shows.

>From the log file info it appears that somewhere it still thinks there
is only one capture card and when it tries to record a second show it
has a conflict.

I have gone through the menus several times and haven not found such a
conflict.

Can someone provide a hint on what I have missed and get my new PVR-250
working as well as restore sound to the system?
