[mythtv-users] Fonts too fat under SuSE 9.2

My fonts seem to be too fat. The glyphs appear to match the family and
face specified in the theme (currently set to "Titivillus", but I've
also tried others), but are too wide for the boxes into which they are
being drawn.
I'm running the latest CVS MythTV sources on my Athlon 64 SuSE 9.2
system with the 2.6.11.7 kernel. I'm using the stock X.Org 6.8.1 server
with the nVidia 1.0-7174 driver on a GeForce FX 5200, and I have
Freetype2-devel 2.1.9-3.
I've tweaked the display dimensions to give resolutions of both 100x100
and 75x75 DPI; the latter yields smaller glyphs but similarly
disproportionate metrics.
The archives describe a similar-sounding problem, but the posted
solution is specific to FC3 packages and thus not directly applicable to
my SuSE 9.2 installation. Any other suggestions for putting my fonts on
a diet?
Thanks!
Paul Milazzo
