Actually, I was just wondering if there was a checklist for me to work
from before I threw myself on the mercy of the list in a
component-by-component fashion.

I'm running a

P4 2.4 with a 533Mhz FSB on an
Abit BE7-RAID motherboard with an old
Nvidia Geforce2 based card and a
Creative Audigy PCI sound card

I'm running Fedora Core 3 at the moment with kernel 2.6.11

I'm running myth from rpms right now.

I've been using a recently-compiled-from-source version of Mplayer for
my hdtv playback tests because at least it doesn't stick me with a
black screen on just about everthing...
The hdtv source is myth firewire-captured 1080i hdtv. It transcodes
to lower resolutions fine and plays back successfully at dvd
resolution.

I'm going to try to get my hands on a used P4 3.06 so I can at least
have hyperthreading, but I don't know if the processor is really my
problem.
