There is no frontend setup per se. On the FE, you only need to run
mythfrontend. The first time you'll be prompted for the IP address of
the backend. If all is well, you'll connect and everything is fine.

If it doesn't connect, it could be number of things from MySQL to your
IP settings, firewall, and so on. If you can ping between the machines
and nmap shows the right ports open, then it's probably a MySQL issue
-- make sure you enable remote conections. The steps are in the main
documentation, I believe.

That will take care of the live TV signal and the recordings. For the
plugins, you'll need to use NFS to mount music and video volumes to
the frontend (if they are not mounted locally). You configure their
locations in the FE's Setup/Utilities -> Media Settings.
