are you planning on transcoding or using software capture cards?  if
not i would say that this is a little overpowered.  for the hardware
encoder like pvr-x50 you definitely don't need much cpu on the
backend.  and for SDTV you won't be seeing more than 12Mbit/s so
running 4 frontends on a 100Mbit connection is doable with plenty of
headroom left over.
