Or, could it be something other than Rhine II?  If it's Gigabit, it 
might use the VIA Velocity module.

(I run Gentoo on several boxes. Some with Rhine II cards and some with 
Velocity cards... all work fine w/ Gentoo.  I haven't tried FC4.)
