I was (still am till newegg stuff gets here), and with an nvidia 5200 video
card, i only have about 30% cpu free, so you might want to think about a
card that has the hardware on it to encode the video (i have 2 pvr-250's,
recording leaves 99.2% free, it's watching tv that has 30% free), don't know
if that card is, but a quick search of the list gave this:

talks about the driver needed, and looks like a bunch of people use it.
