I've often wondered this myself the only thing I could come up with was 
'delete from programs;' in mysql.  This will clear the TV listing data.  
With this you also need to prevent mythfilldatabase from running.  Then 
when you have cable again you can run mythfilldatabase and you should be 
off and running
