I'm sorry if I'm being dense here, but I still don't understand why you
would need an extra sound card to use a second Plextor unit.  The
ConvertX has an ADC inside so you can record from the RCA ports, and the
ConvertX appears on the Linux system as an ALSA device separate from any
sound cards you might have installed.  You can even use one or more
Plextor ConvertX boxes with the MythTV backend without any sound card at
all, as long as you have ALSA compiled into your kernel.

If the same PC is also your frontend, you'll obviously need a sound card
for playback, but it wouldn't make sense to need two sound cards for
output since you'll only be watching one program at a time.  -Nathan
