[mythtv-users] lirc and the nforce2 chipset...

Hi, all. So I'm continuing to try and get lirc working on my system. I have
a mobo with the nforce2 chipset. I took a step back to see what else I could
find, and it says this about Onboard Serial Port 2:
---
This item allows you to determine which i/o address the onboard serial port
2 controller will access. These options are available:
Disabled
3f8/IRQ4
2f8/IRQ3
3e8/IRQ4
2e8/IRQ3
Auto

The default setting is 2f8/IRQ3.
---
Then it lists settings regarding the irDA features. Now, I have a Actisys
IR210L adapter that attaches to the pins on the motherboard. I have assumed
up to this point that I want to use the lirc_sir driver, but I don't know
for sure. Should I be using lirc_serial instead? I still can't get a hold of
the ir port-- irda-utils and irda-setup seem to grab it at startup according
to fuser; even when I nkill the job to free up the device (/dev/ttyS1), I
have to use *setserial uart* none /dev/ttyS1 (though I've also head this
makes the port unusable- can someone clear this up for me?) in order to be
able to install the module.

I just can't seem to get this working, and I feel sort of lost. Any help
would be appreciated.

Peace,
Jack.
