Try hitting the plus key.  This switches audio tracks.  It used to make 
the sound reappear on an early installation of mine.  Some suggest using 
mpeg ts format instead of ps.  The problem has never occurred on my 
Knoppmyth install, but that's R5A22 which apparently has some SVN fixes 
in it.  I am awaiting the version of Knoppmyth that uses 19.1. That will 
be good.
