[mythtv-users] Xebian Xbox 18.1 Share mount issues

I've been trying to get my samba/cifs shares to mount all night and I
can't get them to work. I've tried changing the fstab entries by ssh
about a dozen times
On my linux box the fstab share entry looks like this:
//192.168.1.138/Raid0 /video/mythtv cifs
user=mythtv,password=mythshare,uid=mythtv 0 0
With xebian I'm trying to break the directories down more the tv and
movies directories are for mythvideo
I'm currently using this in my fstab entries on xebian (the 2nd 18.1
release through pirate bay)
//gene/Raid0/mythtv /mythtv cifs
rw,username=mythtv,password=mythshare,uid=live 0 0
//gene/Raid0/movies /shared/movies cifs
rw,username=mythtv,password=mythshare,uid=live 0 0
//gene/Raid0/tv /shared/tv cifs
rw,username=mythtv,password=mythshare,uid=live 0 0
I've tried using smbfs instead of cifs because using cifs gives me a
error message when starting xebian about how cifs isn't enabled for this
system. Using smbfs I get some kind of tree resolving error. I've never
seen this error before and I've worked with linux somewhat since redhat
back in 2000. I can't read the whole thing because it doesn't show up on
the screen and I've gone through all the /var/log files and nothing is
showing up in there. Is there a log file I should be looking at?
also I've tried using different options like user=mythtv and not having
rw in there. Also I've set up gene in my hosts file as pointing to
192.168.1.138 (which is the correct ip) and I know it works because when
I log in through ssh it says last connection from 'gene' instead of
saying the ip address 192.168.1.138 like it did before I set the hosts
file.
The other information you will need, is that the samba shares are
located on a windows xp computer (specifically windows mce 2005) on a
raid 0 drive... I have had no problems mounting this with cifs to my fc4
mythtv 18.1 backend.
also a secondary less important question - is there a way for me to
change the resolution of xebian to say 800x600 or even better 720p
(1280x720) in a config file? I tried finding the config under x11 but
the directory is empty (this was from the xebian howto on changing
resolution)
Any help is much appreciated as I've tried to "trial and error" my way
through it with no success
