[mythtv-users] low framerate on live tv

A few times now I've noticed that when I first start watching
live TV, the framerate is low. It's not that the video is jerky,
but it's clear that it's not being displayed at the full 30 fps,
but rather at 10 or 15 fps, i.e. mythtv is dropping every other
frame or so. Briefly pausing and then resuming fixes the problem.
Anyone else seeing this? Is there a fix?
(this is with 0.19 on an Athlon64 3200+, with OTA digital cards)
