In our household, it has become a staple.  Even after I lost a drive 
last year and took the time to rebuild the system, I feel it's worth the 
time invested.

Yes, it can be a pain to set up.  Yes, the frontend does sometimes 
crash.  And yes, doing updates to other packages on the system often 
does cause one problem or another.  But I still think it's worth it.

I'm one of the few on this list (I suspect) who feels Linux has a long 
way to go on the desktop.  (GNU/)Linux provides an ungodly amount of 
options and flexibility but it comes with a price, and that price is 
often stability and usability.  Windows desktops are much better in this 
regard, in my experience.  Now I'll take a Linux database, web, IDS or 
file transfer *server* over Windows any day.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that my experience is that (GNU)Linux on 
the desktop is often problematic, but Myth *itself* is not that bad.
