One way to get around this is to have MythTV frontend set a bookmark
everytime you stop watching a recording.  That way:

a) The next time you watch the recording, you can have it playback
from the beginning or from the bookmark; and,

b) You can see the little bookmark icon when you scroll through the
list of recordings.
