Sounds like you need to increase the frequency of your autoexpire check.

Subject: [mythtv-users] running out of disk space with autoexpire on
duringlarge recordings

I'm running a myth system on a 200gig disk, with auto-expire on, and set to
trigger at about 15 gig. In day to day operation this seems to be fine -
I've run it for about two months and programs are getting deleted
appropriatelly.

However sometimes when I'm messing with abnormally long recordings, mythtv
does not auto-expire in 'time', which is to say, I run out of disk space.
For instance, I got home today to find my system had run out of space and
everything had fallen over. The last recording is about 15gig in size (I
don't know whether this is co-incidental or not), and this is the second
time my system has run out of space during a large recording.

Has anybody else experienced this? Is it normal behaviour for myth?
