If you renice the kernel module that's sending the signals, you'll
have failed channel changes.  It's CPU intensive to provide the 56K
timing.

You'll have to live with the video stuttering during IR sends for the
Dish protocol I'm afraid (unless you switch to a hardware IR sender).
