After a "long" pause*, if I attempt to rewind livetv, things become
unstable. Often, mythfrontend becomes unresponsive for a long time
(maybe several minutes), then resumes rewinding or playing.
[*I reproduced the problem this morning by pausing for about 45 minutes;
I'm not sure what the shortest pause that would trigger this is, but
"brief" (say 1 or 2 minutes) pauses don't trigger it]
When this happens, I often see messages in the mythfrontend log like:
"Waited too long for decoder to pause"
Interestingly, once this condition is obtained, I can continue to
fastfoward, pause, and play without problem. Further rewinds cause the
By the way, if there are well-known explanations or descriptions for
these mythfrontend messages (prebuffering pause, waited too long...) I
would surely love to hear them! Googling these messages hasn't been
very fruitful so far.
Anybody else seen this, or got any clues?
I'm fairly new to MythTV, but have decent linux skills and am willing to
try to track this problem down if I can get a little guidance on how to
best collect data, generate some hypotheses, and test them.
Thanks in advance for any help. This problem has certainly raised some
"uncomfortableness" in the household, and has people feeling the need to
reach for video tape when something crucial needs to be recorded!
