true true, have you tried SVN for HD? Its working fabulously for me (ATSC 
tuner and less-so firewire).

As well, a card with Component output should be as easy as using the SVideo 
output of the video card since both go through an encoder chip to create the 
output signal specificly for a TV. So it shouldn't be all that difficult.

First, you need to be sure your loading the modules for the drivers (dependent 
on your driver I think) to read the EDID data. You can use the online 
modeline creators to fine tune as well, and all without having to reboot!
