[mythtv-users] Problems with FF and REW

Hi,

I've been having problems recently with fast-forward and rewind. When I try to
skip around, everything freezes for a second, then it changes. However, the
change is always very slight (like 1-2 seconds) and there is a lot of
artifacting before things settle back to normal a second or two later.
Effectively, I can't skip around in recordings anymore.

I searched the archives for answers, and found a few people with the same
problems, but I couldn't find any answers that worked.

Here's the output from the log:

I read that the "first frame is no keyframe" may have something to do with the
recordedmarkup table, so I ran the following query:
REPAIR TABLE recordedmarkup;

It ran for a few seconds then showed a message saying everything was OK.

Also, I get the same problem when watching shows as they record (ie. before they
are transcoded to mpeg4)

My setup (as best I can remember):
-- Frontend --
mythtv-suite 0.18.1 (followed Jarod's guide)
Fedora Core 4
GeForce FX 5200
AMD Sempron 2600+ (socket 754)
512MB RAM
mATX nForce3-150 mobo (I think)

-- Backend --
mythtv-suite 0.18.1
Fedora Core 4
PVR-250
GeForce4 Ti4200
AMD Athlon 1600+
Epox 8KHA+ mobo (VIA KT266A or something like that)
512MB RAM

I'm not sure about ivtv versions and such, but if it would help, I can look into
it.

Any help with this would be appreciated!
Micah
